Ozone (O3) is a super-oxygenated gas consisting of 3 oxygen molecules. When injected into tissue it quickly breaks apart and oxygenates the surrounding tissues and their mitochondria. This does two extremely important things: 1- increases tissue repair by oxygenating the tissues and increasing ATP production, and 2- triggers the body to flood the area with other natural regenerative biochemicals such as stem cells, growth factors, cytokines, collagens, peroxides, etc. Research has shown that Ozone increases oxygen absorption in the mitochondria by 1,000%!
What to expect with ozone?
Upon injection of the ozone gas, the injected area will feel a burning sensation for about 1-2 minutes. Following the initial burn the area will just feel achy and sore. This soreness has been found to last just a few minutes approx 60% of the time, the rest of the day 30% of the time, up to 48 hours 9% of the time and more than 48 hours 1% of the time.
For a period of 7-10 days the tissues and entire body will be at a heightened state of healing and repair... so even though it might feel achy during that time, it doesn't mean it's not working its magic.
